On November 28th, a delegation led by Dr. Mhaule, Deputy Minister of the Department of Basic Education, South African (SA-DBE), visited GZNU. Mr. Yu Mengfei, Senior Project Officer of the Asia-Africa Division at the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China, accompanied the delegation during the visit. Vice President Liu Jin attended and presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, Liu Jin extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the GZNU’s history, distinctive features, international exchanges and cooperation, as well as the basic overview of four affiliated educational stages: kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school. Subsequently, both sides engaged in friendly exchanges on topics including innovative models for basic education, reforms of the basic education system, and China-South Africa cooperation in basic education. Liu Jin expressed anticipation to take this visit as an opportunity to promote practical cooperation between the two sides in areas such as basic education, language teaching, and the integration of industry and education. Dr. Mhaule spoke highly of the achievements in the integrated development of basic education at GZNU, stating that she was deeply impressed by the “overpass” model enabling seamless transitions across the entire educational continuum from kindergarten to senior high school, as well as by the practices of higher education serving basic education.

Prior to the meeting, the delegation visited affiliated elementary school and kindergarten. They observed exhibitions of students’ distinctive works, student club activities, the “Yaya Vegetable Garden” labor education initiative, and the achievements in constructing the “Camphor Culture Corridor”. The delegation also entered the classrooms interact with students, gaining an in-depth understanding of various aspects of our basic education stages, including the management system, current status of teaching staff, curriculum design, teaching methods, and educational facilities. Following the meeting, the delegation toured the GZNU museum.

Relevant responsible personnel from the University Office, Development Planning Division, Academic Affairs Office, Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, School of Foreign Languages, Institute of Basic Education Research, Affiliated Kindergarten, Affiliated Elementary School, Affiliated Junior High School, and Affiliated Senior High School, attended the meeting.
